In Australia and the UK, dietitian is a regulated and protected title. Dietitians must complete an accredited university degree in nutrition and dietetics and meet ongoing professional standards.
Dietitians are qualified to provide medical nutrition therapy and can work with individuals who have underlying health conditions and complex disease states.
Many people also work with nutritionists, who provide general nutrition advice. Dietitians, however, are specially trained to support medical and clinical nutrition needs.
